Menyambut digelarnya ajang BlackBerry World 2011, RIM mengumumkan dua smartphone terbaru, yakni Touch 9900 dan Touch 9930. Kedua smartphone ini selain hadir dengan keyboard QWERTY, layar sentuh VGA 2.8 inchi dan frame dari baja tahan karat.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 yang sebelumnya dikenal sebagai Dakota/Magnum merupakan sebuah ponsel GSM dengan dukungan quad-band GSM dan tri-band HSPA+ (up to 14.4Mbps HSDPA). Sementara BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 yang juga dikenal sebagai Montana adalah ponsel berjaringan CDMA EV-DO Rev. A dan HSPA+ global roaming pada GSM/UMTS.

Di dalam handset ini dipasang prosesor 1,2 GHz single core, koneksi NFC, kompas, dan pemutar video 720p.  Sistem operasi yang dipakai adalah BlackBerry OS 7.0 yang memiliki browser lebih baik, pencarian lewat suara, dan dukungan HTML5. Handset ini juga merupakan BlackBerry paling tipis yang ada hingga saat ini yaitu dengan ketebalan hanya 10.5mm, masih lebih tebal dari iPhone 4 yang hanya 9,3mm.

Fitur konektivitas seperti dual-band Wi-Fi - 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz dan 802.11 a/n 5 GHz, NFC support, GPS dengan A-GPS, serta Bluetooth. RIM menganggap bahwa BlackBerry Bold Touch merupakan produk hibrid yang paling sempurna. Handset ini mengkombinasikan kenyamanan layar sentuh dan kemudahan mengetik untuk meningkatkan kinerja dan fungsionalitas pemakainya.  Handset ini direncanakan meluncur pertengahan tahun 2011 ini namun hingga saat ini belum diketahui harga jualnya.
